NuNaturals Liquid Stevia Giveaway and Review

If you’ve ever thought about going sugar free, chances are you’ve heard of stevia, an all-natural, zero calorie sweetener that doesn’t raise your blood sugar.

In the past, I’ve used powdered stevia and pure liquid stevia.  This time, however, I tried some new flavored stevia from NuNaturals, who sent me some samples of their Vanilla liquid stevia in addition to their two new flavors, lemon and orange.

My First Attempt With Lemon Flavored Stevia…

…was a bust.

I thought I could just flavor my water.  It didn’t turn out so great, but I’m pretty sure I used too much.

Stevia Lesson #1:  Less is More!

Stevia is much sweeter than sugar.  It doesn’t take much to sweeten a beverage.  One drop can equal the sweetening power of 1 Tbsp. of sugar.

This is the biggest problem that people who are new to using stevia run into.  They get some powdered stevia and think that it’s a cup for cup replacement of sugar; but it’s not.  So, when I went to sweeten and flavor my water, I got a little over-zealous about how much I needed.  The result was too sweet. It almost tasted artificial.

But that wasn’t the fault of the stevia; that was all on me.

So, my first attempt was a bust, but my next two attempts were resounding successes.

Here are a couple of great summer beverages I came up with using the new flavored stevia from NuNaturals.

Always Sick Chick’s Sugar-Free Strawberry-Orange Smoothie

Directions:

1. Measure 1 cup of plain yogurt and add about 15 drops of Vanilla Liquid Stevia and mix thoroughly with a spoon.

2. Pour and scoop the yogurt into a blender.  Add the strawberries on top.

3. Add 15 drops of Orange Liquid Stevia onto the strawberries in the blender.

4.  Blend on the highest setting until completely blended and liquefied.

5.  Pour into a glass and enjoy!

My next experiment…

When life hands you lemon flavored liquid stevia, make…

Always Sick Chick’s Sugar-Free Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups cold water
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • NuNaturals Lemon Flavored Stevia

Directions:

1.  Mix water and lemon juice in a pitcher.

2.  Sweeten with Lemon Flavored Stevia to taste:

  • 30 drops will result in a tart/sour lemonade;
  • 45 drops will result in a mildly sour lemonade;
  • 60 drops was perfect for me, just enough sweet to satisfy me;
  • Go sweeter with more, if you’d like!

3.  Chill in the fridge or serve over ice.

With lemonade, it really depends on how you like it.  It took several adjustments before I got it just right for us.  Experiment a bit to find what’s right for you.

This is an easy lemonade recipe.  You can use fresh lemons or lemon juice you buy in a bottle. I used the lemon juice from the bottle.  It’s quick, easy and healthier than the powdered, pre-mixed lemonades or even just lemonade with pure sugar added.

Always Sick Chick’s Sugar-Free Lemonade Tip:  Add blended strawberries to sweeten the deal and add more flavor!

Other ideas:

Tea Time: Add sweetness AND lemon flavor to your tea with Lemon Flavored Liquid Stevia from NuNaturals!  You get the whole package in one little bottle without the sugar, calories and need to cut up acidic, messy lemons.

Yogurt: Forget sugary yogurt, which works against the beneficial probiotics (good bacteria) to fight yeast overgrowth.  Buy plain yogurt, flavor and sweeten it yourself with fresh fruit and flavored stevia. My personal favorite: Add 15-20 drops of Vanilla stevia to a cup of plain yogurt for an instant tasty, healthy yogurt snack.  Add some ground flax seed and cinnamon for added flavor and nutritional value.  Try orange, or orange mixed with vanilla for a sherbet flavored, oranges and cream yogurt treat.
