It’s not just vanity that makes us all want to lose belly fat. Belly fat is the most dangerous type of fat in the body.
Belly Fat poisons the liver, which directly affects your bad cholesterol levels, causing it to go up. It also affects insulin production, contributing to type 2 diabetes. Belly fat also chokes the kidneys, causing high blood pressure.
Excess belly fat is the #1 cause of heart attacks and strokes.
As shown in the above video, to determine if your belly fat is dangerously large, take a tape measure to check your belly circumference around the belly button. In the video, Dr. Oz tells Jorge Cruise to “suck in”, so do this. Take the measurement and write it down. Your belly fat measurement should be 1/2 your height or less. If it’s higher, then you need to go on a belly fat diet.
Note: This measurement will work for anyone – men, women and children. Measure the whole family.
What types of foods should we eat to lose belly fat, and what types of foods should we avoid that contribute to excess belly fat storage?
Dr. Oz recommends monounsaturated fats as a way to flattening the tummy, and avoiding trans-fats and saturated fat as they contribute to excess belly fat.
Lose Belly Fat by eating / drinking…
Don’t consume…
Also, quit drinking soda and other sugary beverages. Consume only water and the occasional tea. Try not to add sugar to your tea. If you need it sweetened, try stevia, an all natural, sugar free, calorie free sweetener.
Sorry, but Dr. Oz says nothing about it being okay to drink coffee, although coffee does seem to have some health benefits such as being high in antioxidants. I’m pretty sure my mocha frappuccino doesn’t count though. *face palm*
If you want to kick start losing that belly fat, you might want to try the Dr. Oz Belly Fat Blasting Smoothie:
Combine:
Blend and Whip until frothy.
In addition to the above recommendations, Dr. Oz suggests taking Omega 3s and Vitamin C in the form of supplements. Read about the Dr. Oz Belly Fat Cure for more information.
When watching the Dr.Oz show on Belly Fat…..I wrote down GLA gel caps and Safflower seeds. I cannot find the seeds anywhere. Did I write down the wrong seeds.
Germaine – I think the problem is making sure you find something that is made for people and not birds. But I found some Safflower Seeds on Amazon.com that you might find helpful. I’m wondering, though, if Dr. Oz meant the oil. But without more information, it’s hard to say. Good luck!
