I like my coffee a certain way. While I was out of town, I tried half & half in my coffee for the first time, and it turned out really yummy. So I bought some…the cheapest I could find at Wal-Mart.
Friggin Wal-Mart. Okay, I personally have nothing against Wal-Mart except for their GREAT VALUE brand. Sometimes, it’s not the best value, and they try some pretty tricky things to make you think that their store brand is the better value when it isn’t. But, most of us (not all of us, but most of us) are smarter than that, and we know a raw deal when we see it.
When it comes to food allergies, though, even when GREAT VALUE is the better value, it’s not the safe alternative. For example, don’t get the GREAT VALUE brand cheerios, because it “May Contain Nuts”. In fact, read the label on the shredded cheese, and you’ll be surprised to find that it may contain almonds!
The half & half was a good deal, and it was safe for me as I’m not allergic to milk.
This morning, as I was making my coffee, I found the following which made me roll my eyes:
You can’t make this crap up. Seriously. What the hell, Wal-Mart?
I’ve had to dig through bread labels to find out if there’s any milk in it, as my son is allergic to milk. Many bread companies don’t add an allergy warning, so I have to dig through the half mile long ingredient list to locate milk in the label. But rest assured, I don’t need to do that with my half & half…they make sure that allergy warning is right there, right under the 2 ingredient list of ingredients…this product contains milk.
*smacks forehead*
Question: What are some really ridiculous food allergy warnings that you’ve seen on product labels?
Oh my goodness how funny! I don’t tend to buy much dairy and I never look at label for it because I’d never think to give it to my dairy allergic kiddos. I’ll have to pay more attention.
I just think it’s hilarious – there are two ingredients, and they are both milk. *face palm* seriously. lol
