Your Appearance Affects Your Mood – Changing Habits for Happiness

Seems Pharaoh enjoyed a Manicure and Pedicure every now and then...

I have noticed, lately, with regard to my mood and energy that a little primping and getting myself together goes a long way.

Looking my best ultimately helps me feel my best.  What do I mean?

If I dress myself in the morning instead of lounging around in my pajamas for several hours, I have more energy.

If I take the time to put on my make-up and do my hair, I feel more alive.

I have actually been doing my finger nails and toe nails, and also giving myself home pedicures frequently.  Just seeing my dazzling toes in cute little sandals is enough to brighten my spirits.

Doing things to spoil ourselves does wonders, at least that’s what they say. As far as I’m concerned, they are right. When I look horrible, it’s a reflection of how I feel.  When I feel horrible, it is a reflection of how I look.  It’s a double whammy catch-22.  But if I step out of my rut and horrible lack of energy and take a moment to do something nice for myself, it changes the entire course of my day and my outlook on it.

What should you do tomorrow to look and feel better?

Get up and immediately get dressed and put together like you are going somewhere special or important.  Do your hair, make-up, put on lotion, shave…whatever it is you do.  You don’t have to dress fancy, but don’t dress in your lounging around the house looking like a bum clothes.  If you dress like a bum, you’ll feel like a bum…and feeling like a bum freaking sucks.

I know a lot of people look down on folks who have to look their best before leaving the house to do anything, but perhaps they are on to something.  Perhaps taking that time to look nice means starting the day off on the right foot – if you look better, maybe you’ll feel better too.

If you need to, and funds permit it, go shopping!  Get yourself some new make-up, clothes, shoes, nail polish, or other stuff that will help you look nicer and feel better.

I feel pretty, and that makes me feel like life is so much better.  It helps me face my day with a smile and a positive outlook instead of dread and grumbling.

Question:  What do you do to look better and feel better about yourself?
