In my attempt to reach my goal – Getting Healthier in 2011 – I am keeping track of monthly goals and whether or not I’ve met them.
So far, I’ve done okay…I guess.
First, a look at April.
I exercised at least 3 days per week or more except for this past week because we were all sick. However, I did manage to take 4 walks in two days instead of getting a major work-out, so it wasn’t a total loss. Exercise is higher up on my list now, especially since that Zumba instructor made the assumption that I’m pregnant.
I’m not pregnant.
Water, water everywhere, and so many drops (or quarts, rather) to drink. I drink the tap water. I just fill up my refillable stainless steal water bottle and go. It holds 3 cups of water, approximately, so drinking three of those per day keeps me well hydrated. If I’m bad that day and don’t get enough, my body tells me and I guzzle some water and add on some Vitamin Water Zero for the electrolytes.
The spring allergies have been a bit of a problem, but not nearly so much as last year at this same time. But, spring isn’t over yet, so we’ll see how it goes. Last spring, I needed my rescue inhaler regularly, but so far this season, I haven’t needed it. Keep your fingers crossed that I can continue to avoid the asthmatic symptoms that manifest due to my pollen allergies.
Instead of allergies, however, we caught another cold – this was a head cold, and it seems the only ones who got it really bad are the ones who have bad nasal allergies. Our youngest, who usually has asthma problems, didn’t get the bug nearly as bad as our oldest child and I did, and my husband, as always, didn’t seem to get sick at all.
I’ve done a bit better with the sleep, but not a huge improvement. I have my husband reminding me when it’s after 10 PM to try and keep me on track. Being sick the last week, though, made sleep difficult as our son kept me up a couple of nights because of his symptoms, and then my symptoms kept me up for a couple of nights too.
In fact, why am I working right now to post this when I should be catching up on sleep? Ugh. Oh well.
As far as my energy and mood go, I’m doing a bit better. My mood has improved greatly, although my PMS in April was horribly brutal…and that’s an understatement.
I am continuing to work on my mood and try to up my energy through additional sleep, exercise, and changing my thoughts. It’s not easy, but I’m making progress.
I know! I know! I don’t think I really took my multi-vitamin at all until I got sick, and then I realized, “Duh! If I had taken it before I got sick, I probably wouldn’t feel like complete garbage right now!”
*smacks forehead*
So, it’s been over a year now, and I haven’t seen the dentist. However, I have appointments booked for my sons and me for a check-up and cleaning. I really need to do better with that.
In an effort to continue getting healthier and losing weight, here are my health goals for May:
