My New Years Resolution is to Get Healthy! Why? Because I’m always sick and tired, and I’m, well, to sound totally cliche – sick and tired of always being sick and tired.
My Health Goals for January were partially met, so I will need to continue being vigilant with those past goals, maintaining what I’ve already accomplished while pursuing goals that were not.
One thing I managed to do in January was to get my allergy symptoms under control. I truly believe it was the fact that I forced myself to use my nasal spray almost daily to reduce inflammation and prevent symptoms. It has truly made a huge difference in addition to the other things I have done.
I’m not going to beat myself up about the coffee. It’s really hard to stop drinking coffee completely. I managed to do it at first, and I did better when my husband was home on vacation for 2 weeks, but once he went back, I started craving my mochas again. So, as a way of compromising, I started getting the Mocha Light Frappuccinos. It has less sugar, replaced with Splenda (sucralose, an artificial sweetner), so I’m not getting as many empty calories and processed sugars into my system. It’s no where near perfect, but it will have to do for now.
Right now, I need to try and figure out a way to boost my energy and mood. First, I need adequate sleep. I’ve been getting around 7 hours per night, but I don’t think enough of that time was spent in a deep sleep. I think it’s because my kids have been climbing into bed with us a lot lately and waking me up. There’s not much I can do about that, but if I try going to bed earlier, I can maybe make up for the sleep lost from getting kicked and pushed out of my own bed.
To increase my mood, I will try to get more sleep, eat healthier meals and begin taking flax seed oil as a mood booster.
Wish me luck!
Question: What are your health goals for February?
Have you ever tried a nasal cleaner? This has done wonders for my overall health and energy levels- you can read about my experience with it here: http://counselormusings.blogspot.com/2011/01/my-little-lifesaver.html
It’s helped with allergies, headaches, colds, and sinus pressure. I love it!
I have a neti pot, but I don’t usually use it. I should, though. The last time I used it, the solution burned my nose. Maybe it was just too much. Thanks for the info, though.
